Experiment Typeface Design
I look for letters in everyday life scenarios and explore how they exist in different environments. The forms of letters may appear in many different forms. By extracting the letters and removing them from their natural environment, they are removed from their everyday background to form a new, independent visual symbol.
Letter forms may occur naturally in various forms, and by photographing these letters, they are extracted from their original environment.

Label Design
In sun/out sun is a visual experiment book centered around the real sun (in sun) and the virtual sun (out sun). This project stems from my observation and collection of light. In my daily life, I took 39 images of the sun and artificial light sources and found that when they were enlarged and framed in a circular area, the viewer often couldn’t tell which was the real sun and which was the light, screen light, or reflected light. Through this project, I plan to explore how we can redefine the boundaries of light between (immersion, cognition, acceptance) and out (escape, reconstruction, re-creation). When the real and virtual interlace, when the level of information flows in the material medium, the meaning of design is also constantly extended between in/out.
In the design, I used the size of the page contrast, folding page expansion and other ways to make the reading rhythm more hierarchical.

In conversation/out expression
04/2024 Book Design
In conversation/out expression is a book design with dialogue as the core, which records the communication between Jingyi Zhang and me around the three themes of study, hometown, and life. In the book design, I chose a similar way of label indexing, using three different colors of paper to visually divide each topic, so that readers can easily find the corresponding content through the color index small page. Each part is not only distinguished by color but also presented in the form of an emoji, making the content more vivid and symbolic. The project uses the hierarchical changes of books and the contrast of text symbols to build the tension of information flow.

In grid/out flow
10/2023Poster Design
In grid/out flow based on the structure of the air conditioning outlet, the project explores the balance between rules and the flow of information through font design and word combination. Grid represents order and limitation, while the creation and arrangement of text breaks the established framework and makes the information flow visually.
In story/out frame
10/2023 Poster Design
In story/out frame presents 10 of my favorite books as poster designs, exploring the dynamic balance of information between “in” and “out” through typography and visual layers. The content of the book, as the information core of “in”, is reinforced by the combination of overlapping visual elements, text, and graphics, while the boundaries, white space, and composition of the poster build the visual tension of “out”, allowing the viewer to experience the focus and diffusion of information during the reading process. The design uses various visual techniques, such as positive and negative shape cutting, transparency changes, occlusion, and overlapping relationships, to create a sense of hierarchy and narrative rhythm of information. This composition not only emphasizes the diversity of the book itself, but also makes each poster an independent visual story, allowing the audience to feel the immersion of reading In the process of interpreting the information (in), and freely explore the extension of the information through the boundaries and visual guidance of the design.
In/out, as a form and visual language, constructs the flow and tension of information through hierarchical changes, the contrast between text and graphics, the cutting of positive and negative shapes, and the contrast of colors, and forms a clear visual relationship between “in” and “out”. In typographic design, the occlusion, white space, and transparency control of elements determine which content is highlighted (in) and which is weakened or hidden (out), thus shaping the sense of hierarchy and visual focus of information. This contrast in form not only enhances the aesthetic expression of the design but also affects the audience’s reading rhythm and cognitive mode, making the static picture visually present dynamic hierarchical changes and narrative logic.
